Optional Technical Visits

The Conference will offer delegates the opportunity of visiting the following technical sites relating to electrical engineering development in Hong Kong. Delegates can participate in these visits at a separate fee. A fee of HK$320 per person per visit will apply.

Visit A: Lamma Power Station and Wind Power Station

Constructed and operated by Hongkong Electric, Lamma Wind Power Station is the first commercial-scale wind turbine in Hong Kong. The triple-bladed 800 kW wind turbine stands 71m tall that runs automatically and generates electricity (as renewable energy) using all available wind power. The Lamma Extension also features the Combine Cycle Gas (LNG) Fired Unit. The visit covers round-trip transportation, technical visit and the lunch en-route.

Time Tentative Itinerary
09:00 Departure from Hotel Nikko Hongkong
10:15 Visit the new LNG Power Station and guided visit to the wind turbine
12:30 Lunch at Lamma Island
15:00 Return to Hotel Nikko Hongkong

Visit B: Power Quality Exhibition Centre and Black Point Power Station

Power Quality (PQ) Exhibition Centre was established by CLP in 2004. The PQ Centre features exhibits which illustrate the common PQ problems and to explain the practical measures for mitigating their impact. Black Point Power Station is the first environmentally friendly natural gas-fired power station and CLP is the pioneer introducing natural gas to power generation in Hong Kong. The visit covers round-trip transportation, technical visit and the lunch en-route.

Time Tentative Itinerary
09:00 Departure from Hotel Nikko Hongkong
09:30 Visit the Power Quality Exhibition Centre in Kowloon and the Black
